Freshly washed and carded Dottie fleece
And Baby Chickens getting bigger by the day
Just over five weeks old now. I figure at 7 or 8 weeks we’ll transition them out into an area near the big chickens so they can start to integrate into the flock. Just gotta work out the logistics.
Chick logistics can be tricky; wishing you success!
thanks Michelle- do you have any tips?
I’ve never had hen-raised chicks so no. I would hope she’d protect them somewhat; when I’ve had chicks I waited until they were nearly full sized before fully integrating for fear of fatal aggression. (I’m a chicken! 😉
Chickies are on their own now- momma did a really good job for about 3 weeks, then bailed. So I’m not sure she’ll be a help. I think I just need to make sure that they are mature enough to hold their own when they are introduced to the “big chigs”. 🙂
Gorgeous photos, as always. How is Dottie’s fleece?
thanks Donna. Dottie’s fleece is lovely- i really like the combination of sheen and springiness. And she and Chone are like two peas in a pod. Such a sweetie.
Great to hear! So John has some really nice lambs for sale including nice mioget and spotted Shetlands. So if you want to add to your colors….
Nope. We’re all full.
Party pooper 😉
