I just finished up the last project of the year- a sweater for Gus.
I didn’t work from a pattern, and so had to figure out the shaping by trial and error, but I’m really happy with how it turned out.
The recipient, however, is feeling grumpy and refusing to model his new sportswear, so that will have to wait.
Anyway, because he has really broad shoulders and a deep chest (for a little guy), I decided to use some modified raglan shaping to get the right fit.
and incorporated about 2 inches of extra length in the chest before rejoining the front and back behind the front leg holes.
Also got sheep hooves trimmed this morning, so the flock is starting the new year on the right foot 🙂
Wishing you all a Happy New Year- see you back here in 2018!
Gus’ sweater is fabulous. Hopefully he’ll get over himself soon and learn to love it. A friend gave me a waterproof coat from his lab after she died and it only fit one of my dogs, but he was also the only one who, when I put it on him, wore it like he was born to it. Stylin’ And the best thing about it is that he’s the one who needs it the most. He gets SOAKED when it rains hard – his fur seems to have zero water resistance (weird, for a bird dog), and he’s getting long in the tooth, so it’s nice to keep him warm and dry when it’s pouring out.
Happy New Year to you and yours from all of us here at MacFinn Farm – though I don’t knit, I love reading and seeing your creations with wool.
thanks Maureen- Gus is pretty good about wearing his other jacket (because He does get chilled pretty easily). I think the grumpiness is stemming from our attempt at getting his nails trimmed earlier this afternoon. He’s got some serious issues around that. I guess we just ruined his whole day. Happy New Year to you as well!
