Monkey Hat, revisited

And finished!

Untitled

Turned out pretty cute I think, but I hope it will be a while before I have need to wear it for real!

Untitled

Also finished some special request socks this past week as well.

Untitled

And all this finishing is good,,, but it means that I am going to have to start something new already! (That’s good and bad thing about small projects.)

I need to start another sweater.
But sweaters require planning.

I guess this is a planning week.
Stand by for swatches!

Pre-Christmas Stay-cation

It was quite a week-

Measuring and mixing.

Beating and blending.

Scraping and rolling.

Baking, cooling, frosting.

Packing and Shipping.

But I made it. All 13 batches of it.

Then I sent it off to friends and family. (ok, not ALL of it. I kept a little for local munching)

And I’m afraid I didn’t take any pictures of the process. I was just glad to get it all done in time.

Of course, I made sure to take wool breaks to ensure I retained my sanity in the midst of all this cookie craziness.

Exhibit A- Oscar Socks

IMAG0375

I started these socks months ago, when the recipients feet were only as long as the white part! Yeeks!

Exhibit B- Custom Photo Glove/Mitts

IMG_3296

These are a not-so-secret Christmas present for The Man. Still need thumbs and index fingers (with openings for finger tips), but I’m getting close!

And the spinning-

Mioget Shetland with blonde mohair and gold tussah silk, Border Leicester, and some CVM/Suffolk cross.

Yum. High fiber goodies. Healthiest things I made all week!

Now perhaps I can just relax and enjoy the holidays 🙂

Long Weekend

IMAG0174

Didn’t have a whole lot of time for fiber fun this weekend, but I don’t think I’d shared these recent spins with you yet-

Above, clockwise from top we’ve got Frank/Felix soft spun singles, a pearly grey Romney two-ply from Sand Hill Farm, and a fun blend of Frank/Felix, white alpaca and blue and wine colored mohair.

IMAG0173

I am really in love with the F & F singles. They are a beautiful creamy opaque white, and so soft and lofty.

Work up really quick, too, from hand combed top!

And just in time to be put away for the summer, here are the finally completed sweaters!

3/4 sleeve colorwork raglan:

roll-edge natural shades raglan:

New project: socks for Oscar (my nephew)!

Have a great week-

Also got a start on some splashy socks:

that also got their start on vacation.

But I tell you what- I just found this book, and it might have changed my whole outlook on footcoverings-

Cat Bordhi is a sock genius. Truly.

I can’t wait to give this new technique a try…. but I guess I’ve got to do the matcher for this little guy first.
