WSU Country Living Expo

January 29, 2017

I’ll be teaching wool-related classes at the Country Living Expo again this year:

Basics of Wool Processing (2 hours)
Want to learn how to turn that fresh greasy fleece into beautiful batts or roving? We’ll talk about the various options at each stage of processing, and get some hands on experience with carders and combs. Wool of many types provided to play with.

Spinning Wheel Tune- Up (1 hour)
Does your wheel needs some TLC? Bring it to the expo and I’ll see if I can get it up and running again. This class is very limited in 8 people. I’ll spend time with each person individually troubleshooting their wheel issues, and providing fixes where possible.

Yarn From Scratch: Basics of Handspinning on a Wheel (2 hours)
We’ll start from the beginning in this class with basic wheel mechanics and adjustments and then get you started with treadling, drafting, and getting a feel for the coordination of the actions necessary to spin a yarn. No prior experience necessary, but please bring a wheel. Wool provided for spinning practice. If you’d like to work with something else, feel free to bring your own fiber.
