Looks who’s Nekkid Again!

Yep.
It’s Egger (Edgar) 🙂

It all started because I was trimming some wool around his neck that was really matted.
Then I started looking at the rest of his fleece, and it occurred to me that it was already almost as long as it was back in March. And I figured, if I sheared him now, he’ll certainly have regrown enough by late Fall to be comfortable when the weather turns cold.

So I went for it.
I don’t know if he was looking for some quality time with his maaaaa, or if he just likes bein’ nekkid, but the boy was really relaxed and cooperative.

It happened kind of spur-of-the-moment, and I didn’t have anything handy to put the fleece in, so I piled it up on top of a wheelbarrow on the other side of the shed as I went along. Think I managed to keep most of the straw bedding out of it.

The other guys were a little surprised to see the shears out again so soon, and are wondering if they’ll be next-

I’m not sure if I’ll do anyone else. Maybe Egger will be my one experimental Fall guy.

We’ll just see how it goes.

In other news, I’ve recently gotten inspired to weave.
This hasn’t happened since back in 2008 (man, how time flies!)

I think it was the rug/import shop in Langley that did it.
I just love kilims.

So I think I’m going to try and learn how to do tapestry weaving.
I’ve gotten my frame loom back out

And I’m going to start playing around.
Maybe I’ll have something to share by next week.

Wish me luck!

Egger looks great. And he should have time to grow back. Maybe I should shear some of mine now too. I am excited to see what you make on the loom!

Thanks- I think he looks good too- he’s really filled out nicely over the last few months. And I did a little better job of shearing this go-round. He’s a little less lumpy than he was in March!

I wish you luck… but it looks like you know what you’re doing. What fun. Can’t wait to see what you do.
I think Egger likes being nekkid. He doesn’t look embarrassed at all.
    He looks cute…

Thanks- I think you’re right. And I really like how he feels all freshly shorn- all soft and lanolin-y.

I actually named him Edgar (after Edgar Martinez, former Seattle Mariner), but unless you really enunciate, it always comes out “Egger.

I am so going to take weaving lessons myself! That is an interesting type of loom you have Denise.
Isn’t it great…when you need some fresh wool you just have to go and clip some from one of your boys 🙂

The simplest loom ever. I love that kind of stuff. And yes, I also love having a home grown wool supply!

No, you’re absolutely right. I didn’t mean to name him Egger, but as soon as I said it I did think of MIB: ” I’ll tell you something right now. I know Egger, and that wasn’t Egger. It was like somethin’ was wearing Egger. Like a… like a suit. An… Egger suit.” So now anything I make out of his fleece is officially an Egger Suit. 🙂
